FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Singer: Starting New Album Was 'Rough'
May 14, 2013FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH announced last month that the band's next album will be a two-record set, with the first half, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 1", coming out this summer and the second part, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 2", arriving in the fall. Despite writing and recording 24 new tracks, singer Ivan Moody told The Pulse Of Radio that the process got off to a slow start at first. "It was rough getting back into the studio and starting to write, so the first month was kind of just sludging through it, getting our feet wet again," he said. "But once we started writing, the songs started to materialize and get better and better and better, so it just seemed like the logical thing to do to just keep writing. And then Zoltan [Bathory, guitarist] came to the table and he was like, 'Well, you know, instead of just shelving all this material, why don't we just do a double album and give it to the kids that way?'"
The first volume will come out on July 23, while the second set will surface sometime this fall.
The first single, "Lift Me Up", features guest vocals from JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford.
The band premiered the song earlier this month at the Revolver Golden Gods awards in Los Angeles, with Halford performing as well.
The studio version of the song premiered on U.S. radio stations on May 13 and is now available for purchase online.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will co-headline the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer alongside ROB ZOMBIE, with the tour kicking off in San Bernardino, California on June 29.
